Founded in 1917, the Lincoln Electric Welding School has taught over 100,000 students from around the world. The school has eight full-time instructors, and students spend 20 percent of their time in the classroom, and 80 percent of their time in the booth welding. There is a six-week basic plate and sheet metal course, up to a 15-week comprehensive course, as well as one-week classes on specific welding processes. Classes run from 8 am to 2:30 pm, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year. The instructors also teach off-site, and provide track-side welding support at top motorsports events, including the Indy 500 and Daytona 500.
